{"id":2609,"date":"2026-05-27T14:19:20","date_gmt":"2026-05-27T12:19:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uscc.inaf.it\/?page_id=2609"},"modified":"2026-05-27T14:39:56","modified_gmt":"2026-05-27T12:39:56","slug":"quantum-computing","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/uscc.inaf.it\/en\/quantum-computing\/","title":{"rendered":"Quantum Computing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The INAF Quantum Computing Workgroup was established with the aim of coordinating and enhancing the Institute\u2019s expertise in the field of quantum technologies applied to astrophysics, cosmology, and the analysis of large volumes of scientific data. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The group seeks to promote the development of quantum, hybrid, and quantum-inspired algorithms, exploring their potential compared with classical methods in classification, optimization, simulation, and machine learning problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Activities<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The workgroup\u2019s activities continue the path initiated by INAF within the National Centre for HPC, Big Data and Quantum Computing, ICSC, with particular reference to Spoke 10, dedicated to Quantum Computing. The objective is to maintain and expand the cross-disciplinary community that has been formed to connect researchers, technologists, software developers, and data scientists, while promoting concrete use cases linked to scientific cases and next-generation observational infrastructures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The group works on applications such as Quantum Machine Learning for the identification of astrophysical transients, the analysis of complex signals, dimensionality reduction, the optimization of scientific workflows, and the assessment of performance on simulators and real quantum devices. Training, dissemination, and the creation of national and international collaborations also play an important role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">mission<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Looking ahead, the INAF Quantum Computing Workgroup aims to help prepare the astrophysical community for the informed use of quantum technologies, identifying where they may offer real, even partial, advantages over traditional approaches, while building strategic expertise for the scientific research of the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Il Quantum Computing Workgroup di INAF nasce con l\u2019obiettivo di coordinare e valorizzare le competenze dell\u2019Istituto nel campo delle tecnologie quantistiche applicate all\u2019astrofisica, alla cosmologia e all\u2019analisi di grandi moli di dati scientifici.
