Above all, they require significant computing power for efficient data processing and analysis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\"><strong>Container-based technologies<\/strong> have emerged as a new paradigm to address the demands of these data-intensive scientific applications. Their ease of deployment within reasonable timeframes and their minimal consumption of computational resources make them an ideal solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Containers enable performance isolation and the flexible deployment of complex, parallel, and high-performance systems. Furthermore, they have gained popularity for modernizing and migrating scientific applications within computing infrastructure management. We will discuss the primary advantages and disadvantages of using containers in daily research activities (including performance and portability). We will present the microservices-based approach and its link to container technologies, identifying the most important and widely used container engines and their typical applications.
